Two years ago today, I launched this blog. I’ve shared stories of my travels, which have taken me down the back roads and side streets of Italy – through vineyards and sunflower fields, up the steps of bell towers, through hidden passageways, cloisters, museums and cemeteries, to bygone eras that survive today in the workshops of artisans who keep the flame of Italy’s artistic genius burning bright.
I’ve written about how to travel light. How dining alone can be a fun experience when you’re traveling solo. How to let go of what’s holding you back and weighing you down in life. How to embrace new possibilities. How to find joy in each day.
I’ve just returned to home base – Pasadena, California – where I’ll be staying for a bit, seeing friends, hanging out with my son, soaking up some SoCal sunshine this winter and getting my new book into production. I’m eager to share this new book with you. (Details to come.)
The blog will continue – absolutely! I am a traveler and a storyteller at heart. There’s nothing I enjoy more than combining the two. Wherever my travels take me, I hope you’ll come along.
I have many travel experiences I want to share with you – people and places I’d like you know about as you plan your own trips. I’m still organizing visits to Tuscany, so let me know if that interests you. I’m happy to help you make your dream trip happen.
On a recent stroll through Florence, I lingered on a bridge over the Arno, memorizing the view. I looked down at the railing and saw this…a padlock in the shape of a heart. Someone has left her heart behind in Florence, I thought. I imagined her standing there, throwing the lock’s key into the river, perhaps making a wish to return someday.
I smiled as a rush of wonderful memories of this place washed over me. Oh Florence, you know I’ll be back. We’re not going to shed a tear. You have given me so much to write about. How could I possibly stay away?

Congratulations, Rebecca on all your fascinating milestones. I feel even more connected to your stories now that I’ve seen a mere glimpse of beautiful Italy with my own eyes, including the bridge over the Arno. I can truly understand how it keeps calling you back and I anxiously await your ongoing tales as well as your new book. I’m happy to report to you that excerpts of my manuscript are with a small publisher for review..TBA. Thank you for helping me define where I would step into my story. I credit you for connecting me to this defining moment! Enjoy your California visit.
Blessings,
Kathy
Kathy, I so enjoyed your blog post about your Italian visit and family reunion. I look forward to reading your book. Congratulations on finishing the manuscript – well done!
Thanks for the blog, Rebecca. Besides the effect of catching up with you, it has been a source for renewed joy in how to travel. You have helped me to see the world around me with different eyes and a deeper heart. For that I am grateful.
You have at least one order for the new book.
