Christmas in Florence

by Rebecca Bricker on December 14, 2014

What I love about Christmas in Florence is the charm and simple beauty of it.

Greens draped over a pay phone, a relic of another era…

A bright window full of sweets…

Panettone just out of the oven…

A merchant decking his shop with garlands of spruce…

Three wise workmen preparing a crèche…

Artisan-crafted tassels and trims, perfect as ornaments…

Orbs and strands that light the way…

A tree, adorned with ribbons and bows, in the shadow of an ancient church…

And a whimsical bicycle soaring into the darkness above a 14th-century gate,                      (along with my spirit) on a quiet December night…

The loveliness of Christmas in Florence.

Rebecca,
One of the reasons why I really like internet. As much as I would like to be in Europe to see some of their Christmas markets it is internet that gives me a chance to see it !
Thank you for sharing.
Do you have a favourite area of Florence that you enjoy especially in December ?
Again about Christmas time, do you have a type of food that you particularly enjoy ?

Grazie,
Céline

Ciao Celine! I love the Austrian-Italian Christmas market at Piazza Santa Croce in December. And I enjoy walking through the streets around the Duomo looking at the decorations. My favorite treats this time of year are panforte and panettone. YUM! :)

I love Christmas, as you well know! It’s fun to see how other countries/cultures celebrate. :)
